FAQs
Does it work with pcAnywhere?
Of course! That's the main reason we made MyRemoteIP- we all used pcAnywhere and hated having to figure out our IP addresses all the time!
Does it work with NetOP?
Of Course! Remember, we do not integrate with other software. We simply keep up with your IP address so you do not have to pay for a Static IP address.
Can we track more than 5 computers?
Sure- check out all the account options including ones for tech support that track hundreds of computers!
Do you have technical support?
Of course we do by email for free or by telephone for a support charge. We usually have answers to your questions within 24 hours.
Do you support Macintosh?
No. We may in the future but we have not had a lot of requests for it. Let us know if you need it!
Do you support Linux?
Not at this time-- but check back with us!
Is our data secure?
As secure as we can make it! We will never say we will not get hacked- but keep in mind the only info we keep in our database is a nickname and an ip address. This is LOW security stuff. It is not opening you up to anymore than surfing the internet does. Remember every site you visit while surfing the web knows your IP address.
The credit card information you used to sign up is not ever SEEN by us. A third party processes that for us and only sends us a positive or negative payment notice. So.... there is nothing here for anyone to want! Who wants to know you nicknamed your computer Betty ?!
What is an IP address?
This is a number assigned to your computer to uniquely identify you on the internet or a network. It has the format of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx- like 24.105.12.100.
What is the difference between a dynamic and static ip address?
This is pretty simple. Dynamic addresses are assigned at the time of login to the service provider. They usually change every time you login with a dial-up account and change not quite as often with a cable or dsl modem.(though mine changes weekly!)
A static address is just that- the same static ip address every time you are online. Most service providers charge more for this service!
Do I have to configure my router?
For what? For port forwarding?
If you are using a router/nat like the ones typically used in small offices that share an internet connection, you'll need to set the router up to use pcAnywhere. Most router manufacturer's have a ready made instruction for doing this since it is so common. It does not need configuring for myremoteip- but will likely need configuring for your remote control/communications software.
What if I'm behind a firewall?
Firewalls should not affect myremoteip unless it does not allow outbound traffic. If you have problems with your firewall, send us an email.
How does MyRemoteIP know what my IP Address is when I am using a router?
We do not track your individual machines IP address if you are behind a router, we track your external IP address. That is the one you need for pcAnywhere!
If you are not using a router and are simply plugged straight into a cable or dsl modem, that IP address is almost always the same as your individual machines' ip address.
I forgot my password- what do I do?
Go to MyRemoteIp.com and click on -I forgot my password- under the client login area! Type in the email address of your account and the pasword will be emailed to it.

If you have registered for a premium (paid) account, please check the paypal payment logs and email us the transaction id, along with some information like your name, full address, telephone number. We will send you the details to change your email account, on your Paypal Email.

I got an email that said my account was near expiration- what do I do?
Login to your account and press the EXTEND REGISTRATION button to add another year. Or to make life super easy, just sign up for a lifetime account!
How do I know when my account is to expire?
Your account profile contains your current expiration date. Please be sure to renew PRIOR to expiration to avoid account deletion and the necessity to re-configure.
How often is my IP updated?
As often as you set it!? We recommend the 60 minute reporting setting for most users but you can set it for anytime available in your client application. Just right click on the tray icon and click on CONFIGURE.
